Gulmarg Ski Resort Map: Alpine Zone
Gulmarg, Kashmir | 9 November, 2017 | Paul Lalley
Welcome to the infamous Gulmarg Ski Resort, home to Apharwat Peak at 4,390m (14,403ft).
Apharwat Peak’s Alpine Zone consists of an 8km (4.97mi) ridgeline that spawns 13 bowls (couloirs for mountaineering buffs out there). Each of these riding bowls offering varied riding experiences from steeper adrenaline-pumping descents in the Drung Bowls to more mellow surfy terrain from the ‘Apharwat North Bowl’ to ‘No Mans Land Bowls’. The terrain is variable offering hits, trees and high-speed open areas to really open up the throttle.
The Gulmarg Gondola drops you just below the summit at 3,950m (12,960ft) allowing you ‘relatively’ easy access to the numerous riding zones that will keep you busy for weeks on end.
These areas are defined in the map pictured above. You can also download it here.
The K-Line Adventures ‘Gulmarg Resort Map: Alpine Zone Terrain Map’ is the most comprehensive map to date and is in electronic format (PDF) for you to take it where ever you go.
A quick reminder…when you head out for a day in the mountains always remember the ‘Backcountry Safety: 5 Red Flags’ listed below. They just might save your life:
